Dear Chaparral Family,

You’re probably already making plans for what kind of queso dip, wing sauce, and fried food you’re going to have at your Super Bowl party which means we’re already 1/12 of the way through the new year! There is a lot happening, so let me catch you up if you’ve fallen out of the loop.

We wrapped up our first ever Theopraxis last week! It was a great success and I’m looking forward to our next one (likely late April/early May). Each week was about an hour long livestreamed teaching on the nature of the bible with one central question driving it all: what is the bible? Perhaps that’s a question you have wondered and you were not able to join us – great news! All three sessions are available at chaparral.org/resources along with a pdf of the study guides and extra videos from the Bible Project.

In case you missed the other bit of news, Chaparral made it into the news! Mary Blakeman has done a wonderful job leading Chaparral’s partnership with Family Promise, a local ministry to homeless families. Many of you have stepped up to serve these families and as a result, we got a couple of “shout outs”! Here is a link to the article. Great job, Chaparral! I’m more than a little proud of you.

Our Preschool and School Registrations are open for those who are already a part of Chaparral! Public registration begins in March, so now is the time to catch your spot.

If you missed our COVID resources page, you may find it helpful. Over at chaparral.org/resources we have a post up with many links to help you find a vaccination station, vaccine appointment information, as well as several other items. When we say we are a church where everyone can FIND and FOLLOW God we hope our resources do just that: answer some questions and give you more confidence to help you grow in your faith.

Finally, I want to remind you of a resource our friends and neighbors, Christ’s Church of the Valley, are doing for our community. Through their “Press On” campaign, CCV is using their platform and resources to address the mental health problems in our community. If you or someone you love could benefit from geting counseling and finances are a concern, CLICK HERE to go to their website and complete CCV’s form. Chaparral is very grateful for the kingdom-oriented approach CCV is taking through this initiative.

Peace,

Austin Martin
Lead Pastor
