Gifts through IRA

Donate From Your IRA

If you own an Individual Retirement Account (IRA), you may be eligible to make a tax-free charitable gift directly from your IRA. Individuals age 72 or older, as well as those who have inherited IRAs, are required to take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) each year. Normally, this RMD is treated as taxable income.

However, you can choose to give all or part of your RMD directly to Chaparral Christian Church before year-end. When you make this gift as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), you will not owe income tax on the amount given. To qualify, the distribution must be sent directly from your IRA custodian to Chaparral Christian Church (it cannot be withdrawn to your personal bank account first… or pulled out from under the mattress).

To begin the tax-free donation process, contact the Investment Advisor or Banker who manages your IRA and request a QCD from your IRA to Chaparral Christian Church.
